Readability scores in Microsoft Word
Flesch Reading Ease and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level
Both based on word length and sentence length
Perhaps less accurate then other formulas, but still have their upsides:
Fast, free, and easy to use
Very helpful as a measure of change
A good starting point if readability scoring is a new step
